I am away this weekend, enjoying a mini-break -or at least a mini-bar-break-in - daahn Saarf. Like Dick Whittington, I am off to the mean streets of London. Although I'm sure it will be a shock for everyone if I end up being made Lord Mayor before I come home on Monday.I might come back a changed man. I am after all visiting the home of the "best league in the world." I might never be able to look at our runty little SPL in the same way again.
All that lies in the future. For now I will content myself with the SPL preview of the weekend ahead.
The longer article is over at Punters Realm:
That's that then.
Toothless even before they lost Scott Brown to a controversial red card, Celtic finally capitulated to a last gasp Maurice Edu goal at Ibrox last Sunday. With that winner Rangers surely ended the SPL title race for the season. It's only a matter of time before Tony Mowbray's faint hopes are turned into a mathematical impossibility.Quick Predict:
But there's still games to be played and points to be won. Games and points that might yet have a major influence on Mowbray's future as Celtic boss. There's the issue of third place, very much alive as Dundee United moved above Hibs last week. There's the relegation battle as Steven Pressley tries to inspire Falkirk to free themselves from the mire. And, of course, there't the mini soap operas played out at every club, every week. From the frustrations of Mark McGhee at Pittodrie to the re-emergence of Craig Brown at Motherwell, there is life in the SPL yet.
